A unique development of HISTORIC BUILDINGS that have been saved from the bulldozer to be transformed into a unique and exciting RETAIL and RESTAURANT destination.
.
Imagine your business operating in one of our beautiful Historic Texas Houses that have been lovingly rescued, carefully relocated, and expertly repurposed by skilled craftsmen to meet the needs of your clientele.
At completion, this innovative business community will encompass an entire block intersected by a walkable brick lane in a park-like setting that is sure to become a favorite place for events and locals to gather.
Founders Row will be a place that feels like home. It will be an ideal setting for hospitality or service-oriented businesses such as restaurants, cafes, wine bistros, boutiques, retail shops, specialty stores, salons, spas, galleries or any other type of enterprise which would thrive in an interesting and inviting environment.
The beauty of the preserved historic homes in Founders Row will welcome customers to the businesses along its thriving brick-laid thoroughfare. Allowing guests to experience and appreciate Texas architecture and history in a whole new way.
The vision for Founders Row is to be a gathering destination for the community. Open spaces along the brick lane will capture the spirit of Midlothian’s history and friendly small town lifestyle in a way that makes it a great place to gather, host events, dine, shop, work, relax and enjoy life.
The development of Founders Row is in progress! The first three historic buildings have been moved to the property and are currently under renovation. A number of other historic homes are being considered for relocation to Founders Row.
Seven more buildings will eventually be added in the future, bringing the total to ten properties at completion. Interest is brisk and these unique properties are limited. Interested parties should inquire without delay.
The Mertz home was built in Cleburne, Texas between 1904-07 by C.W. Mertz, a prominent banker, real estate entrepreneur, insurance man and civic leader. Mertz arrived in Cleburne around 1881 from Paris, Texas to establish the First National Bank. The house was moved to Founders Row in 2016 and is a prime example of the late 1800s architecture styles that will populate the streetscape.
The Historic Victorian-era Mulkey-Loggins House was originally built in Ennis, Texas and is a fine example of the Queen Anne style architecture. It was built in 1898 by Dr. James C. Loggins, mayor and city alderman, on land settled in 1854 by pioneer Philip Mulkey. In 2016, the house was moved to Founders Row in Midlothian.
The historic William Hosford House, once known as “The Pink Lady”, is an example of fine craftsmanship and Victorian architecture that was popular in the 1800’s. The building was moved to its new home at Founders Row in 2017 from Waxahachie, Texas where it stood proudly for over 100 years.
The houses were moved with the utmost in care by the renowned historic home relocation experts at McMillan Movers. Once in place on their new foundations at Founders Row, construction began in earnest by our team of skilled craftsmen whose talents and tradeskills will return these historic structures to their former glory.
